EXPERIENCE
GUILDFORD
NEW HOUSE ART SPACE
Tucked away just minutes from Guildford Railway Station, New House Art
Space has quickly become one of the town’s most vibrant creative hubs.
Housed in a repurposed industrial building, it offers a welcoming space for
artists, makers, and the wider community to connect through creativity.
THE GUILDFORD INSTITUTE
The venue is home to 20 resident studios, where artists from across
disciplines (painting, jewellery, sculpture, textiles, ceramics, photography)
create and collaborate. Studios are available to rent, giving artists 24/7
access to an inspiring environment within a supportive community.
Alongside its working studios, New House also features a contemporary
gallery space that can be hired for exhibitions, events, and private
bookings. The gallery regularly hosts a variety of monthly workshops,
opening its doors to those keen to learn new skills, experiment, or simply
spend time immersed in art.
A highlight of the year is New House’s annual Open Call Summer
Exhibition. Each summer, artists are invited to respond to a theme, with
submissions spanning multiple media. In recent years, the exhibition has
attracted over 80 artists, making it one of the most exciting and inclusive
showcases in Guildford’s cultural calendar.
With its mix of studios, exhibitions, workshops, and café culture, New
House Art Space is a place where creativity thrives.
SIXES SOCIAL CRICKET
They’ve taken cricket, added a dash of tech, and paired it with signature
cocktails, mouth-watering sharing plates, and a buzzing social vibe.
Whether it’s tackling the high-octane batting nets, celebrating a
birthday, or simply catching up with friends after work, Sixes is the
ultimate spot to play, laugh, and connect.
The Guildford Institute is a small charity
providing cultural education for the local
community and beyond. Based in its beautiful
Grade II listed building on Ward Street since
1892, it provides two programmes a year
packed full of activities including courses,
talks, visits and events. Its latest programme
has over 130 events to choose from taking
place from October to March.
The Institute hosts many community groups
in its welcoming space, including the Chatty
Café Scheme, Stitch and Sip Craft Group, as
well as a variety of clubs and societies.
Stop by and enjoy a delicious vegetarian
and vegan lunch at V Café, which serves a
regularly changing menu of seasonal dishes.
The Institute is also home to a historic
library and archive - a treasure trove for local
history - and a Community and Wellbeing
Centre, which provides accessible mental
health support services.
